Piano Pieces
As you probably already know, I play the piano! ^-^ I'm currently working towards passing Grade 6, having
passed grade 5 in 2005. This page has some of the pieces that I'm learning/playing
at the moment, and a short discription of the piece by me.
Fur Elise by Beethoven:
Who doesn't know this piece? You hear it about 10 times a day on cellphone ringtones
& background music on TV. I actually learnt this song years ago, but that
was the simplified version. Only this year did I learn the realy version,
all 4 pages of it. I loved playing it at first, and once even fooled my mum
thinking that I was listening to a CD instead of playing the piano. My favourite
bit is a short jumpy and happy sounding passage on the second page, the first
'break' from the original tune. I really do like this piece, its just that
I think I 'over-played' it a bit, and now I'm sort of sick of it. On ly sort
of though...
Solfeggietto by P.E. Bach:
I absolutely LOVE this piece! It only took me about 3 days to learn it,
and I adored it. It's a really fast song made up with mainly semi-quavers(1/16
notes) and has a repetitive tune that's played in different keys with some
passages in between to give it some spice. ^0^ I sorta over-played this as
well, but its still one of my faves.
First Harpsichord Suit by Purcell:
Even though I wasn't really fond of it at first, I now really enjoy playing
this sweet and catchy piece. It's broken up into 4 sections, each based on
a different dance but with the same style. It's a good piece to play when
there isn't anything else, or when you feel like playing the piano.
Sonata in G by Beethoven:
Another Beethoven Master piece, this one slightly longer. Okay WAY longer. I only
learnt the first 2 movements, and they (added together) were 8 pages long.
4 pages each. I know. But Its a neat piece to play and really gets you going
as its got LOADS of scale passages...The 2nd movement is a really slow and
sweet bit, and I really like it.
Toccata in A by Paradisi:
*Squeals* I really like this song as well! It's a bit like Solfeggietto, but more repetitive
and cheery compared to it. I've only learnt the first page, but I already
love it. ^^
Sonata in C by Mozart
I didn't think this was a interesting song at first..it looked like your average piece with a repeating left hand and reminded me of the numerous Allegro's that I'd played. But once I learnt it, it was kinda like the Harpsicord Suite. You just like playing it! It's a really neat piece, and at the moment I'm learning the 2nd movement- a sweet and rather soft passage.
